Loaded my 1st pass master of “To the Beach”. Just Guitar, Bass and Vocals.

 Start is sloppy timing/tuning but it tightens up after the 1st verse. So hang in there!

I used a TLM103 for the vocals and I can not get rid of the harsh tone and sibilance that mic delivers. No pre-amp or EQ could fix it, so I've bought the Neumann TLM67 which is much fuller in the low-mid, mid range. The U67 was the Mic for Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and early Beatles. It's meaty. I tried THE MIC - the U87 in a studio once and again it was too bright on my voice. So next pass will be with the new TLM67… why not the U67 you ask? errrr - go check the price of those beauties!

Well I feel like I've been here before. Many times. Like getting a fresh notebook, or an unplayed guitar - so daunting, so inspiring.  So here we go again. These days I have more time I can apply to my art. So I'm excited to see what I can do. Hoping you'll come along with me and see how the journey goes.

I'm writing better than I ever have, but my playing is rusty. Only cure for that is playing live. If you can't play it live, then, you can't play it :-)

I've joined SAGE AUDIO online to get mixing advice and I'll try to record and mix my own songs. I've built a high quality home studio, so equipment is not the limiting factor. The limiter is me…. Hey, no pressure and all that… Mastering is wisely beyond me, I need that 2nd set of ears.

In the coming weeks and months I'll post updates and songs here. I want to post the songs as they form so you get a view into that creative scenario. I hope that is interesting to follow.
